Welcome To The Atlanta Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.®
Web Page
The Atl
anta
Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen was incorporated in Atlanta in August 1972. We are an
education and
community service organization dedicated to maintaining the traditions of the
Tuskegee Airmen and preserving
the legacy of the first generation of African American military aviators of
the Second World War.
Throughout
our thirty-two year history, members of the Atlanta
Chapter, TAI have consistently provided inspiration, motivation,
mentoring, and role models for elementary, middle, and high
school students in Metro Atlanta. We typically provide presentations
to twenty-five to thirty schools each year, averaging five hundred or
more
students per school. We estimate that we have made
presentations to more than a quarter million students in the Metro
Atlanta area. Tuskegee Airmen also perform volunteer community
service, supporting programs for older adults as well as for youth development
programs.
Membership of the Atlanta Chapter, TAI reflects our cultural and our intergenerational values. Our membership includes men and women of different races, ages, including military and civilian, veterans and non-veterans.
The focus of
activities in our youth development programs and activities is mentoring,
aviation career education,
character development, youth leadership, Boy Scout merit badge programs,
Junior ROTC, High School Career
Motivation Days, and fund raising initiatives for scholarship programs.
Our goal is to assist students to develop positive attitudes, character,
academic and leadership skills. Our
academic focus is in math, science, communications, and technology.
Tuskegee Airmen collaborate with The Organization of Black Airline Pilots (OBAP), The National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees (NBCFAE), The Alliance of Black Telecommunications Employees, Inc. and ACTAI Explorer Scout Post 1941 of Atlanta in conducting Aviation Career Education and Mentoring Programs and for high school students. The Atlanta Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(C)(3) organization.
